Heritage Jazz Works is an instrumental division of Heritage Music Press, which is the educational division of The Lorenz Corporation. If you are looking for music to help young players become solid improvisers, click here for a short tour of Jazz Basics—a jazz method for students in grades 6-9.

By working in conjunction with Jamey Aebersold, Heritage Jazz Works has made Jazz Basics the perfect “Introduction to Aebersold”. Jazz Basics includes seven units where students will learn the fundamentals of improvising in a well-sequenced, step-by-step approach. A complete unit on the Bb blues is included.

Jazz Basics includes performance pieces at the end of each unit. These pieces focus on two styles of jazz—swing and Latin rock. Once students have completed Jazz Basics, they will be prepared for Jamey’s Volume 1: “Jazz: How to Play and Improvise.”
