Features:
The opening theme from the first movement of Mozart's serenade Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) is one of his most recognizable. Written in 1787, the same year as his famous opera Don Giovanni, this masterpiece is an excellent example of Classical composition, although likely written as light entertainment music for a party or dinner.
This arrangement includes themes presented in the exposition of the first movement: the bold, arpeggiated opening theme, and the gentle, lyrical second theme. A study in Classical style and articulation, this work requires no shifting except in the bass part, and has few isolated extensions in the cello part.
